NAAC

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and headquartered in Bengaluru, India. Established in 1994, NAAC assesses and accredits higher education institutions (HEIs) such as colleges and universities to evaluate their quality status based on standards of quality in terms of educational processes and outcomes, curriculum coverage, teaching-learning processes, faculty, research, infrastructure, learning resources, organization, governance, financial well-being, and student services.

NAAC aims to make quality assurance an integral part of the functioning of higher education institutions (HEIs) through self and external quality evaluation, promotion, and sustenance initiatives.

NAAC evaluates institutions on an eight-grade scale based on the scores of cumulative grade point average (CGPA).

NAAC encourages institutions to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. The IQAC works towards the realization of quality enhancement and sustenance goals within the institution.

NAAC facilitates seminars and workshops, organizes Peer Team Visits, and partners with various state governments and professional bodies to promote quality in higher education institutions.
